Unpad Graduate School Strengthens Academic Freedom and Supports SDG 16

Bandung, March 15 2025 – The Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) reaffirms its commitment to academic integrity and high-quality education by strengthening policies that guarantee academic freedom.
This initiative ensures that faculty members have the freedom to explore their fields of expertise, determine research priorities, and express academic views openly in classrooms and scientific forums. By creating this space, Unpad builds a learning environment that is open, inclusive, and transformative.
“Academic freedom is essential not only to protect scientific integrity but also to cultivate a sustainable academic culture that fosters innovation and relevance for society,” said Prof. Ira Irawati, vice dean of Graduate School of Unpad.
The policy directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, which emphasizes accountability, transparency, and inclusive decision-making. By empowering its academic community, the Graduate School contributes to building stronger institutions of higher learning that promote dialogue, trust, and knowledge-sharing.
Through this step, Unpad Graduate School strengthens its role as a multidisciplinary hub not only focused on academic excellence but also on advancing sustainability, justice, and innovation for future generations.
