The Graduate School (SPs) at Universitas Padjadjaran is dedicated to advancing sustainability through its comprehensive guidelines, which emphasize effective collaboration with local stakeholders beyond the university. These guidelines ensure that partnerships with local governments, communities, and the private sector are productive and lead to positive, sustainable impacts on surrounding communities.
In alignment with its sustainability guidelines, SPs UNPAD has actively engaged with BAPPENAS to conduct a specialized training program on Environmental Planning in Development, held from October 9 to October 20, 2023. This training included both online and in-person sessions, focusing on equipping participants with essential knowledge for effective environmental management. Additionally, SPs has partnered with the Bandung City Department of Culture and Tourism on the Gedebage Masterplan project, which involves data collection, focus group discussions, report preparation, and dissemination of findings.
Furthermore, SPs UNPAD is committed to providing expert advice to local and national governments. This involves contributing to policy development, participating in key committees, and supplying scientific evidence to support better and more sustainable decision-making processes. The institution also plays a crucial role in capacity-building for policymakers and legislators through training and workshops addressing critical issues such as economy, law, technology, migration, refugee matters, and climate change.
The sustainability guidelines at SPs UNPAD also stress the importance of creating a neutral platform and ‘safe space’ for diverse political stakeholders. This facility enables open and constructive discussions on complex national challenges, aiming to develop collaborative solutions that support sustainable development. (SNM)
