The Master’s Program in Sustainable Tourism at Universitas Padjadjaran conducted a Community Service Program (PKM) in Ambalresmi Village, Kebumen Regency, under the theme “Digital Transformation of Ambalresmi Village.” The program aimed to strengthen the capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes), local MSMEs, and village government in promoting tourism through digital platforms. Participants received training in tourism branding, destination storytelling, social media strategies, and Google Maps optimization. In addition to the training sessions, they practiced developing destination narratives and gained insights into geoproduct development as a strategy to strengthen the identity of the tourism destination. The program was carried out through collaboration between Universitas Padjadjaran, the Kebumen Regency Government, international partners, and the local community.
Through this initiative, the people of Ambalresmi Village gained practical skills to promote their natural, cultural, and culinary tourism assets digitally, enhancing the village’s tourism competitiveness and expanding its market reach. The program contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by strengthening the capacity of local MSMEs and tourism stakeholders, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by supporting sustainable rural tourism development, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among universities, government agencies, local communities, and international partners. Ongoing mentoring with the local Pokdarwis is expected to ensure the long-term implementation of the training outcomes and support sustainable economic growth for the village community.
