Bandung, Indonesia – The Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD), in collaboration with the Center for Environment and Sustainability Studies (CESS), has reinforced its dedication to sustainability by implementing routine monitoring of aquatic ecosystems surrounding its campus. This initiative is designed to ensure that the school’s academic and operational activities do not negatively impact the environment.
The joint program involves regular water sampling and quality testing to detect potential changes that may pose risks to the health of nearby aquatic ecosystems. By identifying early signs of environmental stress, SPs UNPAD and CESS can take timely measures to mitigate potential hazards and safeguard biodiversity.
Through this collaboration, SPs UNPAD emphasizes its commitment to sustainable campus practices and environmental stewardship. The program not only aligns with global sustainability goals but also serves as a model for how higher education institutions can work together with specialized centers to protect natural resources.
“Maintaining a healthy aquatic ecosystem is essential to sustaining both the environment and the community that depends on it. Our monitoring efforts, together with CESS, are a proactive step to ensure that academic excellence goes hand in hand with ecological responsibility,” stated a representative from the Graduate School.
This program is part of SPs UNPAD’s broader sustainability agenda, which integrates education, research, and community engagement to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean water, life below water, and responsible consumption.
