SPs Unpad Strengthens Commitment to Aquatic Ecosystem Protection through Strict Water Quality Standards and Environmental Training Programs

Bandung – The Graduate School (SPs) of Universitas Padjadjaran has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability by implementing strict water quality standards and responsible wastewater management guidelines. This initiative is designed to safeguard aquatic ecosystems, preserve wildlife, and protect human health from the adverse impacts of pollution.

The guidelines ensure that all academic, research, and operational activities at the campus do not compromise surrounding water quality. This policy is also in line with the Sustainability Guidelines – Green Campus Handbook of the Graduate School: Steps Toward a Sustainable Campus, Chapter 4, Section 5 on Biodiversity Conservation.

In addition, through collaboration with the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Studies (CESS), SPs Unpad organizes Non-Degree Training Programs focused on critical environmental topics. These include techniques for sampling and analyzing air and water quality, hazardous waste management, and environmental impact assessment. The training aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills in sustainable natural resource management and environmental protection, thereby strengthening efforts toward achieving SDG 14: Life Below Water.

“This initiative not only ensures environmental sustainability within the campus but also creates a positive impact on surrounding communities and aquatic ecosystems,” stated a representative from SPs Unpad.

Through these initiatives, SPs Unpad aspires to serve as a role model in sustainable water management practices while reinforcing its role in supporting sustainable development at both the local and global levels.
