Unpad Graduate School Introduces “Smart Tourism” Course to Strengthen Innovation and Sustainability in Tourism

The Graduate School, Universitas Padjadjaran, has launched a course titled “Smart Tourism” under the Master of Sustainable Tourism program. The course is designed to equip students with the ability to integrate digital technologies, data-driven strategies, and sustainable practices in tourism management. By exploring concepts such as smart destinations, digital platforms, and technology-supported visitor experiences, the course prepares future professionals to design tourism models that are innovative, efficient, and environmentally responsible.
The Smart Tourism course contributes directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education by fostering advanced digital literacy and critical thinking, SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through the development of competitive and sustainable tourism industries, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure by promoting the use of technology and smart solutions, and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by supporting tourism that benefits both local communities and the environment, as well as integrated with smart cities concept. Through this initiative, Universitas Padjadjaran reinforces its commitment to shaping tourism leaders capable of driving innovation while maintaining sustainability at the core of development.
