The Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has established the Doctoral Program in Environmental Sciences and the Master’s Program in Sustainability Science as a direct response to the global environmental crisis, which requires advanced interdisciplinary knowledge and specialized skills.
The programs’ curriculum addresses pressing sustainability challenges, including water, air, and soil pollution; hazardous and domestic waste management; forest degradation; biodiversity loss; the energy and climate crises; environmentally damaging industries; urban sprawl; and unsustainable practices in agriculture and natural resource management.
By equipping students with both scientific expertise and policy-oriented perspectives, the programs aim to foster leaders capable of delivering innovative solutions. This initiative also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting informed decision-making, evidence-based policy, and responsible governance for a more sustainable and just future.
