As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has implemented a comprehensive plan to enhance energy efficiency across its campus buildings. This initiative is designed to reduce overall electricity consumption and promote the use of natural resources, such as sunlight and natural ventilation, to minimize dependence on artificial lighting and air conditioning.
Key features of this energy efficiency strategy include maximizing the use of windows to reduce the need for lighting during the day and optimizing natural airflow to decrease the use of air conditioning. These measures are part of a broader effort to reduce energy consumption and lower the school’s carbon footprint, supporting a more environmentally friendly campus.
This initiative aligns with SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, which emphasizes the importance of improving energy efficiency and increasing the use of renewable energy. By implementing these energy-saving measures, SPs UNPAD is contributing to global efforts to achieve more sustainable energy use in educational institutions.
In addition to internal efforts, SPs UNPAD is collaborating with corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners to develop energy-efficient facilities that further support the school’s sustainable energy management strategy. These collaborations not only enhance the campus infrastructure but also demonstrate the school’s commitment to engaging external stakeholders in its sustainability goals.
The energy efficiency plan also supports SDG 13: Climate Action, as reducing electricity usage and improving energy efficiency are critical steps in mitigating climate change. By implementing these initiatives, SPs UNPAD is taking proactive measures to address environmental challenges and contribute to a greener future.
Furthermore, this initiative plays a crucial role in the university’s Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, reflecting SPs UNPAD’s leadership in integrating sustainability into campus operations and supporting global sustainability objectives.
