In line with its commitment to fostering an inclusive and fair work environment, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has implemented a robust Equal Pay Policy as part of its Sustainability Guidelines. This policy aims to actively measure, monitor, and ultimately eliminate gender-based wage disparities, ensuring that all employees receive equal pay for equal work.
This initiative directly aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality, which calls for the elimination of discrimination and inequalities in the workplace, particularly related to gender-based pay gaps. By taking decisive steps to address wage disparities, SPs UNPAD is working to ensure financial equality, supporting a more equitable and just work environment for all staff members, regardless of gender.
Furthermore, the Equal Pay Policy is closely linked to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, which promotes fair labor practices and equitable remuneration as essential components of sustainable economic development. SPs UNPAD’s policy underscores its dedication to creating a workplace where both men and women are compensated fairly, fostering a culture of equality and respect.
This commitment is also reflected in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for remuneration, which ensure transparent and consistent pay practices across the institution. The monitoring and analysis of pay structures are integral to maintaining fairness, and regular reviews are conducted to guarantee that wage equality is upheld.
Through this policy, SPs UNPAD demonstrates its leadership in promoting gender equality and fair pay in the higher education sector. The institution’s focus on closing the gender pay gap is not only a step toward economic justice but also a model for other organizations to follow.
As SPs UNPAD continues to champion workplace equality, these efforts contribute to the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, highlighting the institution’s proactive role in addressing key sustainability and social equity issues in line with global standards.
