SPs UNPAD Strengthens Commitment to Anti-Discrimination and Sexual Violence Prevention

The Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) continues to demonstrate its firm commitment to creating a safe and inclusive academic environment through the enforcement of strict anti-discrimination and anti-sexual violence policies. These policies, which are a key part of the institution’s sustainability guidelines, aim to safeguard the rights and well-being of all individuals within the academic community. The guidelines ensure consistent enforcement and regular monitoring, reinforcing SPs UNPAD’s stance against any form of discrimination or violence.

This initiative aligns with SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By establishing mechanisms to protect against discrimination and violence, SPs UNPAD contributes to creating equitable opportunities for all genders, promoting inclusive and just institutions, and fostering a safe and supportive environment for all its members.

In line with these efforts, Universitas Padjadjaran has formalized the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS) for the 2022-2024 period, effective as of August 29, 2022. The task force, comprising nine members from faculty, staff, and students, was established under Rector’s Decree Number 3881/UN6.RKT/Kep/HK/2022. Their primary responsibilities include supporting the university’s leadership in drafting guidelines for preventing and handling sexual violence, conducting bi-annual sexual violence surveys, and delivering gender equality, sexual health, and anti-violence education to the campus community.

Antik Bintari, M.T., head of the Satgas PPKS UNPAD, emphasized that the task force’s duties align with Permendikbud No. 30 of 2021, which governs the prevention and handling of sexual violence in higher education institutions. The task force is also responsible for developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for complaint handling, coordination efforts, and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders. These partnerships include UNPAD’s Legal Aid Bureau, the Psychology Service, and the Gender and Child Research Center, as well as collaboration with NGOs and government agencies.

Through these proactive measures, SPs UNPAD continues to uphold its commitment to providing a safe academic environment, ensuring that all members of its community feel respected and protected.
