As part of its commitment to sustainability, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has launched a Zero-Emission Vehicle Policy, reinforcing the university’s strategy to reduce its environmental impact and support green technologies. This initiative is outlined in Chapter 2 of SPs UNPAD’s Sustainability Guidelines, which emphasize the importance of reducing campus-related transportation emissions and promoting eco-friendly mobility.
The Zero-Emission Vehicle Policy encourages the use of bicycles and other environmentally friendly transport options on campus. By limiting the use of vehicles that rely on fossil fuels, this policy aims to create a cleaner, healthier campus environment while addressing the urgent need to combat climate change. The policy also provides bike parking spaces and pathways, ensuring that this shift towards sustainable transportation is both convenient and accessible for students and staff.
This initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action, as it significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with campus transport. Additionally, the policy aligns with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by fostering the development of a sustainable and livable urban environment within the campus community.
By adopting this forward-thinking approach to transportation, SPs UNPAD not only leads by example in reducing greenhouse gas emissions but also plays a vital role in fostering a culture of sustainability among its students and staff. These efforts are part of a broader commitment to supporting global climate goals through practical, measurable actions.
