In a continued effort to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has implemented several key initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint, optimize energy consumption, and enhance green spaces. These actions are in line with the institution’s sustainability guidelines outlined in Chapter 2, which focus on addressing climate change and minimizing the campus’s environmental impact.
The policy measures at SPs UNPAD include:
Carbon Emission Reduction: By adopting cleaner, more efficient energy practices, the school is actively contributing to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.
Energy Efficiency: A comprehensive strategy has been introduced to ensure the efficient use of electricity across campus facilities. The move toward energy-saving technologies and practices not only reduces operational costs but also supports a more sustainable energy system.
Green Space Development: SPs UNPAD has increased the availability of green spaces on campus, improving biodiversity, providing recreational areas for students and staff, and enhancing the overall environmental quality.
These efforts directly support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Climate Action, emphasizing the institution’s dedication to reducing its environmental footprint and preparing for the effects of climate change. Furthermore, SPs UNPAD’s sustainability policies indirectly address other SDGs, including SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by promoting renewable energy use and creating eco-friendly campus environments.
These steps underscore SPs UNPAD’s role in driving positive environmental change, as the school remains committed to fostering an academic environment that prioritizes sustainability and aligns with the global agenda for a greener future.
