SPs UNPAD Supports Local Government with Climate Change Mitigation through INSUAH Program

In an effort to address the growing challenges of climate change, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has actively participated in providing critical information and support to local governments through its INSUAH initiative. This program, which emphasizes early warning systems and risk monitoring in response to climate-related disasters, plays a crucial role in helping communities mitigate the impacts of climate change.

As part of its ongoing efforts, SPs UNPAD hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on July 17-18, 2023. The event brought together various urban farming groups from Bandung to collaborate on identifying key challenges and potential solutions for heritage-based urban agriculture. The discussions aimed to explore innovative approaches to building resilient urban farming systems that can withstand the increasing risks posed by climate change.

This initiative is directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13, which calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. Through its work on urban agriculture and disaster risk management, SPs UNPAD contributes to climate change mitigation, promoting sustainable farming practices that enhance food security while reducing environmental vulnerability.

Moreover, by focusing on disaster preparedness and climate resilience, SPs UNPAD’s INSUAH program supports the development of robust local strategies for managing climate-related risks. This aligns with broader global efforts to create sustainable and resilient urban communities in the face of environmental changes.

This engagement also resonates with the criteria set by the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, which evaluate how universities contribute to global sustainability goals. SPs UNPAD’s dedication to fostering urban farming resilience and supporting climate action reinforces its role as a key player in advancing sustainable development practices.
