UNPAD Graduate School Introduces Sustainability Guidelines to Foster Decent Work and Economic Growth, Aligned with SDG 8

The Universitas Padjadjaran Graduate School (SPs UNPAD) is proud to announce the implementation of its Sustainability Guidelines, a comprehensive framework designed to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8): Decent Work and Economic Growth. This initiative reflects SPs UNPAD’s commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive work environment that promotes fair labor practices, economic opportunities, and sustainable development.

Central to the Sustainability Guidelines is a robust system for managing employee grievances related to rights and salaries. This process ensures that all staff members have access to formal channels through which they can voice concerns or seek redress for any perceived injustices regarding their rights and remuneration. This commitment to transparency and fairness is a cornerstone of SPs UNPAD’s approach to maintaining a healthy and productive workplace.

In recognition of the critical role of workers’ rights and labor unions, the Sustainability Guidelines also underscore the importance of freedom of association and collective bargaining. SPs UNPAD ensures that all employees, regardless of gender or international status, have equal rights to participate in labor unions. This policy fosters a democratic and supportive work environment where every voice is valued.

To further reinforce its dedication to inclusivity, the Sustainability Guidelines at SPs UNPAD include strong anti-discrimination policies. These policies are designed to eliminate workplace discrimination based on religion, sexuality, gender, age, or refugee status, thereby creating a work environment that is both inclusive and fair for all employees.

SPs UNPAD is also committed to combating forced labor, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child labor. The guidelines strictly regulate working hours, ensuring that workloads are manageable and do not exceed reasonable limits. This policy is vital in upholding the dignity and rights of all workers within the institution.

When it comes to outsourcing, the Sustainability Guidelines guarantee equal rights for outsourced workers, with fair workload distribution and a commitment to gender equality. This ensures that all workers, whether internal or external, are treated with the same level of respect and fairness.

Additionally, SPs UNPAD has implemented a pay equity policy as part of its Sustainability Guidelines, with a strong commitment to measuring and eliminating the gender pay gap. This policy aims to create financial equality in the workplace, ensuring that all employees receive equal pay for equal work.

Through these initiatives, SPs UNPAD not only adheres to the principles of SDG 8 but also sets a benchmark for sustainable and responsible employment practices. The Graduate School’s dedication to these values highlights its role as a leader in promoting decent work and economic growth within the academic community and beyond. (SNM)
