Graduate School UNPAD Implements Key Initiatives to Support Sustainable Transportation and SDG 7

Graduate School UNPAD has taken bold steps to promote sustainable transportation as part of its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7, which emphasizes affordable and clean energy. Over the past three years, the School has introduced three major initiatives aimed at reducing private vehicle use on campus, reflecting its dedication to fostering an eco-friendly campus environment.

The first of these initiatives is the DAMRI shuttle service, which provides convenient transportation between Dipati Ukur and Jatinangor, reducing the need for individual car trips. Complementing this, the School has also introduced BEAM electric bicycles, offering a clean and efficient mode of transportation for students and staff. Additionally, mechanical bicycles are available for on-campus use, further encouraging a shift away from reliance on private vehicles.

These transportation initiatives are part of a broader strategy outlined in the Graduate School’s Sustainability Guidelines, which also include efforts to convert unused parking areas into green spaces like parks and gazebos. This approach not only reduces the need for parking but also enhances the campus’s overall sustainability.

Through these targeted initiatives, Graduate School UNPAD is actively contributing to the global effort to achieve SDG 7, while setting a strong example of environmental stewardship within the academic community.
