Community Service Projects on Sustainability by SPS, BUAH, and CESS

The Graduate School (SPS), BUAH The Living Lab, and the Center for Environment and Sustainability Science (CESS) continue to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability by organizing various community service projects involving students. These projects not only contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 17 but also empower students in meaningful activities that benefit the community.

In 2023, several impactful activities were conducted. The production of liquid organic fertilizer involved five students over the span of one month, with the initial production completed in one day and a waiting period of one month for the fertilizer to mature. Another project focused on the collection of organic and non-organic waste in collaboration with residents of RW 07 in Sukasari District, involving three students in a one-day activity.

Additionally, a socialization event on urban agriculture and pest management was held, in cooperation with the Bandung Food Security and Agriculture Agency and BUAH The Living Lab, targeting the women’s group (PKK) in Sukajadi District. This event engaged four students in a one-day session.

Lastly, a combined socialization on climate change, waste management, natural pesticides, and digital marketing was conducted for urban farming groups in Sukajadi District and residents of Sukawarna Village. This initiative involved 25 students and spanned one month, with the main event taking place in one day.

Through these activities, SPS, BUAH, and CESS have successfully created a positive impact on the community while promoting sustainable practices relevant to local needs. These initiatives not only support sustainable development goals but also provide valuable experiences for students in applying their academic knowledge in real-world settings.(SNM)
