In its ongoing commitment to sustainability, the Graduate School of Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs) has unveiled a new initiative designed to encourage sustainable commuting and promote healthier lifestyles among its community. The new program focuses on integrating cycling and running into daily routines, aligning with the university’s dedication to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Cycling and Running: Targets and Facilities
The program sets ambitious yet achievable targets to foster a culture of sustainability on campus. SPs aims to increase the number of participants in its cycling and running programs by 30% over the next year. Specifically, the goal is to see 50 active participants in cycling activities and 30 in running events by the end of the academic year.
To support these activities, SPs has invested in state-of-the-art bicycle facilities. The campus now features multiple bike racks, repair stations, and a designated bike lane that ensures safe and convenient access for all cyclists. Additionally, running tracks have been improved to encourage more participation in physical activities.
Sustainable Commuting: A Step Forward
In promoting sustainable commuting, SPs aligns its efforts with SDG 11, which emphasizes the importance of sustainable cities and communities. By encouraging cycling and running, the university not only reduces the carbon footprint associated with traditional modes of transportation but also enhances the well-being of its community members.
Looking Ahead
SPs remains committed to expanding these programs and exploring further initiatives that support sustainability. The ongoing efforts reflect the university’s broader mission to integrate SDGs into its operations and foster a more sustainable and health-conscious campus environment.
Stay tuned for updates on how SPs is making strides towards a greener future and join us in embracing a sustainable lifestyle through our cycling and running programs.
