Graduate School UNPAD Implements Parental Leave Policies to Support Work-Life Balance

The Graduate School at Universitas Padjadjaran (SPs UNPAD) has taken significant steps to promote work-life balance for parents by implementing comprehensive parental leave policies, in accordance with BKN Regulation Number 7 of 2021 (Amendment to BKN Regulation Number 24 of 2017) on the Procedures for Granting Leave to Civil Servants. These policies are designed to support both mothers and fathers during crucial family moments, ensuring a nurturing environment for both employees and their families.

The regulation provides detailed provisions for various types of leave, including:

Maternity Leave: Female civil servants are entitled to three months of maternity leave, which can be taken either before or after childbirth, depending on the mother’s needs. This policy ensures that mothers have adequate time to recover and bond with their newborns.

Paternity Leave: Male civil servants are granted one week of paternity leave when their wives give birth. This allows fathers to support their spouses and engage in early childcare responsibilities.

Leave for Miscarriage: In the unfortunate event of a miscarriage, both the husband and wife are entitled to leave. This compassionate policy provides time for the couple to recover physically and emotionally.

These policies reflect SPs UNPAD’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment that supports the full participation of women in the workforce, while also recognizing the important role of fathers in family life. By implementing these regulations, SPs UNPAD demonstrates its dedication to the well-being of its staff and their families, aligning with broader efforts to create a supportive and balanced work environment.
