UNPAD Graduate School Reinforces Gender Equality with Non-Discrimination Policy

The Sekolah Pascasarjana (SPs) at Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD) is proud to showcase its commitment to gender equality through the robust implementation of its non-discrimination policy. This policy ensures that women are treated equitably across all facets of the institution, including organizational structure, activities, and regulations.

Promoting Gender Equality in Leadership and Operations:

A significant aspect of this policy is the representation of women in key administrative roles. Currently, approximately 40% of management positions at SPs are held by women, reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where gender diversity is actively promoted and supported.

Key Policy Features:

Equitable Organizational Structure: The policy mandates that women have equal opportunities to assume leadership roles and contribute to decision-making processes within the institution.
Inclusive Activities and Regulations: All activities and regulations are designed to ensure that they do not discriminate against women, promoting a fair and supportive academic environment.
Leadership Representation: The 40% representation of women in management roles underscores the university’s commitment to integrating diverse perspectives into its leadership and operational practices.
Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 5: Gender Equality
The implementation of the non-discrimination policy aligns closely with SDG 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. By ensuring that women are well-represented in leadership positions and treated equitably across all aspects of the institution, SPs UNPAD advances gender equality and supports the broader goal of eliminating gender-based disparities.

SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities
SPs’ efforts to create a non-discriminatory environment also support SDG 10, which focuses on reducing inequalities within and among countries. Promoting gender equality within the institution helps address systemic inequalities and contributes to a more inclusive academic community.

Looking Forward:

UNPAD Graduate School is committed to further enhancing its gender equality initiatives. Future plans include expanding policies to support women in all areas of the university, increasing awareness and training on gender issues, and ensuring continued progress towards an equitable and inclusive environment.

By aligning its practices with the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings indicators, SPs UNPAD demonstrates its dedication to advancing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Through these initiatives, the Graduate School reinforces its role in promoting gender equality and supporting a diverse and inclusive academic community.
