Welcome to home gardening! Planting a variety of crops in your garden provides unlimited access to food security. The diverse functions of plants can meet various needs beyond food, including health and energy. This practice has long been recognized and carried out by our ancestors.
The Faculty of Sekolah Pasca Sarjana is proud to support these efforts, which align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Home gardening contributes significantly to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by ensuring a continuous supply of fresh, nutritious food. Moreover, the health benefits of gardening support SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
By incorporating diverse plants, gardens also contribute to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) through the cultivation of bioenergy crops. This holistic approach to gardening underscores the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with modern practices to achieve sustainability and resilience.
Combining commercial crops ensures economic benefits from urban gardens. Ensuring income security is crucial for sustaining urban household agriculture based on backyard spaces.
In supporting local communities and enhancing economic resilience, @buah.thelivinglab emphasizes purchasing products from local farmers and surrounding communities. This initiative not only promotes local economic growth but also strengthens community ties and supports sustainable agricultural practices.
Through these efforts, we continue to promote and enhance urban agriculture, climate adaptation and mitigation, and household food security. Let’s keep the spirit of gardening alive, honoring our heritage while building a sustainable future. (SNM)
