In a recent initiative aimed at promoting healthier eating habits among schoolchildren, BUAH The Living Lab partnered with SDN 085 Ciumbuleuit in Bandung. The collaboration focused on educating canteen managers about the importance of sanitation and hygiene in school canteens, while also addressing food insecurity among students. During the session, participants were briefed on identifying and avoiding harmful food ingredients for school-aged children. Practical demonstrations included preparing nutritious menus such as pakcoy and beet pudding, alongside homemade egg mayo sandwiches. This hands-on approach aimed to empower canteen staff with practical knowledge in providing wholesome meals for students, thus contributing to SDG 2 on Zero Hunger and Food Security. “We are grateful to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UNPAR and Rikolto Indonesia for inviting us to share our expertise,” remarked the BUAH The Living Lab team. This collaboration underscores a commitment to enhancing food safety and nutritional standards in school environments, thereby supporting sustainable development goals. The initiative not only highlighted the importance of healthy eating but also fostered community engagement in promoting sustainable practices within educational settings. Such efforts contribute significantly to the broader goal of ensuring children’s well-being and fostering a culture of health and sustainability in schools. (SNM)
