[GradSchool Unpad] During the Reboan activity at the Graduate School entitled WeRInGradSchool (Wednesday about Research and Innovation in the Graduate School) which was held on January 12 2022, Prof. Yudi Azis as the Head of the BUMN Center Unpad discussed various research opportunities and collaborations with BUMN (State-Owned Enterprises). The BUMN Center itself is one of Unpad’s flagship centers which was formed on May 9 2016 by the Minister of BUMN Rini Soemarno and the Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, together with the Chancellor of Unpad at that time Prof. Tri Hanggono Achmad.
In its journey, the BUMN Center has carried out various scientific study and discussion activities involving various BUMNs, such as in the financial services sector (BRI, BNI, BSI, Mandiri, BJB, Pegadaian) as well as other sectors such as Angkasa Pura II, Pindad, Perhutani, Biofarma and etc.
BUMN is a business entity that is wholly or at least 51% of its capital is owned by the state. The purpose of establishing BUMN is very good because it is not only based on business continuity by obtaining profits, but also pays attention to the people’s economy by actively participating in providing guidance and assistance to MSME entrepreneurs. It is quite interesting to observe the BUMNs that can provide the largest dividends, shifting to BUMNs in the financial services sector, apart from Pertamina and PT Telkom.
What is still a record according to Prof. Yudi Azis is Unpad’s contribution which is considered not optimal for branding contributions to SOEs. In fact, many things have been done. Meanwhile, there are still many research collaboration opportunities that can still be explored related to SOEs. This research opportunity can be seen from the perspective of the BUMN itself, the Ministry of BUMN as the responsible technical ministry, as well as the type of research that can be carried out whether it is pure academic research or applied research. Some examples of research topics that can be carried out are performance improvement models, SOE systematic literature reviews, Customer Satisfaction, Impact Clusterization, Corporation Action, and others.
